19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from March of 2023.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at 21 various events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's defensive strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to question if his ability to play at the highest level was over.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 early break points in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
